Episode 33 ~ Meet Timothy G. Cross of FamilySearch

Welcome to Episode 33 of the Family History Expos Genealogy Podcast series, with your host DearMYRTLE.

Myrt's guest for the podcast is Tim Cross, of www.FamilySearch.org who will be presenting at the upcoming Mesa Arizona Family History Expo, to be held 14-15 November 2008 at the Mesa Convention Center. This year's theme is  "CyberExchange 101: Learn the tech to search your roots".

Tim is Product Manager for the new FamilySearch for 4 years. Prior to working for the Church, Tim worked in the computer industry for PriceWaterhouse, Booz, Allen, & Hamilton, and Novell. Tim is currently responsible for the Family Tree portion of the new FamilySearch.

TITLE: New.FamilySearch.org and Its Family Tree

DESCRIPTION: After years of development, sneak peaks and active speculation, the new FamilySearch has started to roll out worldwide. The rollout will take many months as new software is placed in every temple worldwide and the LDS Church members in that temple district are given access to it. This presentation is designed to give you an understanding of what the new FamilySearch is, and what it is intended to do. It will present principles and best practices, and show you how to use the program at a fundamental level.

TITLE: FamilySearch Family Tree: Looking Toward the Future

DESCRIPTION: FamilySearch Labs showcases new family history technologies that aren't ready for prime time. Come see how you can be part of defining the future of FamilySearch.

Classes
Pre-registration (through 1 Nov 2008) is $75 for the classes. Late registration is $90. At-the-door registration is $50 per day. You will receive a registration packet, name tag, CD syllabus, and a goody bag. Please pick these up when you check in at the event.  For those wishing to receive their syllabus as a printed book there is an additional cost of $24.95 plus shipping. Books will not ship until after the event. For your convenience we will have them available to pick up at the Expo if you like.

Exhibit Hall
The exhibit hall is open to the public at no cost.
