Episode 6 ~ Meet Betsy Frith Gottsponer of Yuma, Arizona

Welcome to Episode 6 of the Family History Expos Genealogy Podcast series, with your host DearMYRTLE.

Myrt's guest for the podcast is Betsy Frith Gottsponer, MLS who will be presenting at the upcoming Mesa Arizona Family History Expo, to be held 14-15 November 2008 at the Mesa Convention Center. This year's theme is  "CyberExchange 101: Learn the tech to search your roots". Born a 3rd generation Yuma native, Ms. Gottsponer holds BA, MA, and MLS degrees. She currently works at Gila Vista Jr. High School as a professional librarian. She has taught genealogy courses at AWC for 25 years. She serves on boards of local and state genealogical societies.

BETSY'S CLASSES

TITLE: In the Beginning -- Just Getting Started
EXPERIENCE LEVEL: Beginner
DESCRIPTION: Questions, questions, questions. Where do I begin? How do I start? What if I only know my own name? Here are some answers: look at home first, see what has already been done, learn about where your people lived and worked, and be sure to document everything.

TITLE: Recognizing Errors -- This Doesn't Make Sense
EXPERIENCE LEVEL: Beginner-Experienced
DESCRIPTION: You finally find the document you have been looking for, but something looks wrong. He can't have died before he was born. She can't have married after she died. What's going on here? Error are more common than we wish in the documents we are using to prove our family tree.

Classes
Pre-registration (through 1 Nov 2008) is $75 for the classes. Late registration is $90. At-the-door registration is $50 per day. You will receive a registration packet, name tag, CD syllabus, and a goody bag. Please pick these up when you check in at the event.  For those wishing to receive their syllabus as a printed book there is an additional cost of $24.95 plus shipping. Books will not ship until after the event. For your convenience we will have them available to pick up at the Expo if you like.

Exhibit Hall
The exhibit hall is open to the public at no cost.
